How Sclerotherapy Can Help Get Rid of Veins

At any age, people can experience the annoyance of varicose and spider veins. There are several causes for these troublesome veins, but luckily, there are just as many treatment options. The specialists at Tri Valley Health & Aesthetics are here to give a bit of background on one of our favorite vein treatments, sclerotherapy.

WHAT ARE SPIDER VEINS AND VARICOSE VEINS?

To start off, there is a difference between these two types of trouble veins. Spider veins are thin vessels that twist and turn, most often seen on the face and legs. They are typically red, purple or blue but are not always bothersome. On the other hand, varicose veins are thick, twisted and raised blood vessels that usually result in discomfort, and even pain.

Spider and varicose veins arise when blood is flowing incorrectly and collects in the vessel, causing it to swell. This can happen for several reasons, with injury, obesity and standing frequently being a few.

GETTING RID OF VEINS WITH SCLEROTHERAPY

No matter what caused your varicose or spider veins, there is a solution! Sclerotherapy has been around for decades, helping patients get rid of these irregularities.

During your treatment, a salt solution will be injected directly into the vein with a very fine needle. Once the vein is injected with this solution, it will begin to scar. Eventually the vein will collapse and be reabsorbed into your system, rerouting the blood through healthier veins.

Multiple injections may be performed depending on the size and location of your veins, and the number of sessions needed will depend on how severe your condition is. Sclerotherapy takes less than a half-hour, with full results seen about a month after the procedure.

If you struggle with varicose or spider veins, give sclerotherapy a try! We would love to help you get the great-looking legs you’ve always wanted. Feel free to contact us with any questions by calling 925.484.5483.
